Arizona window tint laws
Front side windows need about 33% light transmission, plus or minus 3%.
California window tint laws
Front side film must stay nearly clear: at least 88% light through the film itself, and at least 70% through the finished window.
Nevada window tint laws
Front side windows must allow at least 35% light through the film and glass together, with a 7% tolerance.
Texas window tint laws
Front side windows must allow at least 25% light through the glass and film together.
Florida window tint laws
Front side windows must allow at least 28% light through on that vehicle’s glass.
Georgia window tint laws
As of July 1, 2026, front side windows must allow at least 28% light through, plus or minus 3%.

- Are window tint laws different in each city?
- Automotive tint is almost always state law. We still publish city pages so a search like “tint laws in Phoenix” lands on the Arizona limits next to Phoenix shops. Confirm the current statute with the installer.
- What does VLT mean for window tint?
- Visible light transmission is the percentage of visible light that passes through the glass. State rules usually measure the glass and the film together, not the percentage printed on the film box.
- Is factory privacy glass already tinted?
- Many SUVs and trucks leave the factory with darker rear glass. Adding film on top of that glass can push the combined number below the legal floor even if the film looks “legal” on a chart.
